The Velomont Needs Your Help!

Carter Clarke

The Velomont Trail needs your help. If you could take a moment to express your support for a major step forward in this project, which seeks to establish a nearly 500 mile long hut-serviced, mountain bike-optimized trail corridor along the length of Vermont, we would appreciate it. We have an incredible opportunity to continue the progress of the Velomont.

This segment of the trail will extend the Velomont by approximately 72 miles through the Manchester Ranger District in the Green Mountain National Forest. True to the Velomont vision, we and our project partners will be utilizing existing trails and forest roads as much as possible to connect nearby trail networks and communities.

The scope of work for this particular segment includes:
– 15 miles of new trail construction
– 25 miles of existing trail improvements
– 14 miles of existing, already well-maintained trails
– 9 miles of area-specific relocation to improve sustainability
– 9 miles of existing Forest Service Roads

Every section of new and improved trail will be adaptive-friendly, increasing access for everyone. Additionally, new and updated sections of trail will be built with modern-day, best practices to reduce maintenance costs and be more resilient to Vermont’s changing climate.

We couldn’t be more excited for this next step in the Velomont’s development, and we hope you are, too. It’s important that people hear our community’s support for this project, so we’re asking folks to please leave a comment before December 13th, 2024.
