The Trail Fund is VMBA’s annual fundraiser, and it exists to do one thing: grow mountain biking in Vermont. Donations power the Chapter Trail Grant Program, which funds projects that go beyond the standard maintenance covered by your VMBA membership:
- Constructing new trails, systems, and major infrastructure
- Rehabilitating and upgrading heavily used or aging routes
- Acquiring the tools and equipment that elevate Chapters’ trail building capacity
Your donation also supports the day-to-day operations that make this work possible – the coordination, advocacy, and administration behind every grant awarded and every project completed. Trails don’t build themselves, and neither do trail programs.
Last year, riders like you funded $75,000 in Chapter Trail Grants across 13 Chapters – and that work is happening on the ground right now. Follow along as we highlight each project throughout the campaign.

Since 2013, the Chapter Trail Grant Program has awarded $601,274 to trail projects across Vermont. Odds are good that some of your favorite trails exist, or ride a whole lot better, because of it. See the full project list on our Chapter Trail Grant page.
Every year, Chapters submit project applications for the trail work their networks need most. The VMBA Trail Committee reviews each application and awards grants to the projects with the greatest impact. It’s a Chapter-driven process from start to finish; the people who know these trails best decide where the money does the most good.
More Trails - $369,827 Invested
83 grants for new trails, systems, and major supporting infrastructure.
Better Trails - $204,512 Invested
45 grants to rebuild, rehabilitate, and upgrade heavily used or aging routes.
Equipment Acquisition - $26,935 Invested
9 grants for the tools and machines that elevate Chapters’ stewardship capacity.
