The Camel’s Hump State Forest Management Plan is currently being developed. VMBA is working with with chapters and the Vermont Huts Association to advocate for a corridor that will support your long-range riding opportunities via the Velomont Trail; a contiguous trail from Killington to Stowe.
We need to ensure the management plan includes a corridor that links Mad River Riders to WATA.
Public comments are welcome until the 15th. VMBA is asking each of you to make your voice heard to help ensure that your trail is meaningfully included in this plan, which will be in place for approximately 20 years. Let’s rally!

Thank you for taking the time to hear the interests and concerns of dedicated Vermonters. There is currently no mention of the Velomont Trail – a conceptual statewide singletrack mountain bike trail linking existing Vermont Mountain Bike Association chapters across the Green Mountains. This new end-to-end trail initiative is being led by VMBA and its chapters, and the Vermont Huts Association.
I request that the Velomont Trail and the conceptual routes of connectivity be included in the CHMU Long Range Management Plan both in the narrative and on the “Planned Recreation Map” (page 78 of the CHMU plan).
