The Vermont Youth Cycling Program
VMBA has partnered with Vermont Youth Cycling League (VTYC) to help support their mission to offer safe and fun interscholastic and neighborhood group rides and races. VTYC educates and empowers young riders to improve their skills and health while building both a stewardship ethic for the trails and a caring community. Together we share a deep commitment to getting more young Vermonters on bikes!
About VTYC
VTYC will host a series of fun group rides at various locations in the spring to prime young mountain bikers for the season ahead. In the fall, a race series will test the skills and fitness achieved over the summer.
All events are open to grades 5-6, middle school and high school age riders of any ability level from throughout the state. A fun, supportive environment will be paramount with an emphasis on personal improvement through friendly competition.
How to start a team at your school or in your town
Teams are not isolated to just school groups. Any group that meets the criteria listed below are welcome to join the league. We also encourage independent riders to join our league.
- 5 or more riders in grades 5-12 from your local area
- 1 coach and 1 assistant coach (we look for a 1:6 coach to rider ratio)
- Create a team name
- Register coaches and riders
- Coaches and ride leaders get required background check
- Come out for spring group rides and fall races
