2025 Vermont Trail Closures During Hunting Season

As fall settles in across Vermont, hunting season brings with it important safety measures and seasonal trail closures. Check out Vermont Fish and Wildlife for more information. To help riders stay safe, we’ve compiled a list of known trail networks and their closure dates.

Please note: this list is a working document and may not capture every closure statewide. Always double-check with your local chapter before heading out, and remember to wear blaze orange whenever you’re on the trails during hunting season.

2025 Trail Network Closures

Here are the currently confirmed closures by chapter:

    • All Networks: Nov 15 – Dec 14

    • Swoops & Loops, Cloudspin & Norcross: Closes Nov 1 for the season

  • Bennington Area Trail Systems

    • Flat Tire, Running Bear, Jacob’s Ladder, Singletrack Connector, The Old Pines: Oct 25 – Dec 14

  • Brewster River MTB Club

    • Macomber (small section): Oct 1 – Dec 14

    • West Hill: Oct 1 – Dec 14

  • Fellowship of the Wheel

    • Hinesburg Town Forest (all except Maiden, Sheep Thrills, Eagle’s Trail, Russell’s Ramble, Missing Link, Backdoor): Oct 25 – Dec 14

    • Mobbs Farm: Nov 15 – Nov 30

  • Grateful Treads

    • Jay Rec Center & Montgomery upper trails: Nov 15 – Nov 30

  • Killington Mountain Bike Club

    • Gifford Woods: Park Closes Oct 19 for the season; trails remain open (conditions-dependent)

  • Mad River Riders

    • All Networks: Oct 25 – 26 and Nov 15 – Nov 30

  • Montpelier Area MTB Association

    • Irish Hill: Closes Nov 1 for the season

  • Millstone Trails Association

    • All Networks: Oct 25 – 26, Nov 15 – Nov 30, and Dec 6 – 14

  • Northshire Area Trail System

    • Grouse Lane, Dorset Hollow, Raptor Lane, Humphreys & Bunker Loop: Nov 15 – Nov 30

  • Richmond Mountain Trails

    • Skully’s & Visceral: Closes Nov 15 for the season

  • Ridgeline Outdoor Collective

    • Randolph Gap, Abel Mtn, Sap Side, Upper Zeebees beyond 9lb intersection: Closes Oct 1 for the season

    • Hansel & Gretel, Cut it Loose, Ol’ 56, Sunday Stroll, Zeebees, 9lb Hammer, Arm Pump: Closes Nov 15 for the season

  • Slate Valley Trails

    • Fairgrounds Trailhead (Cliffhanger, Freefall, Loop-the-Loop, Midway, Morse Hollow): Oct 25 – 26 and Nov 15 – Nov 30

    • Delaney Woods: Oct 1 – Dec 31

  • Stowe Trails Partnership

    • Adams Camp: Oct 25 – 26 and Nov 15 – Dec 14

  • Waterbury Area Trail Alliance

    • Little River State Park: Closes Oct 19 for the season (riding past gate allowed until Oct 31)

    • Perry Hill: Closes Nov 1 for the season

  • Woodstock Area Mountain Bike Association

    • Aqueduct: Nov 15 – Nov 30

  • Woodstock Area Mountain Bike Club

    • Saskadena Six: Closes Nov 1 for the season
