Rankin Trails – Caledonia Trail Collaborative

The Caledonia Trail Collaborative is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that believes trails enhance the quality of life for area residents and contribute to the vibrancy of our communities. Our mission is to work with area stakeholders to create and manage sustainable, human-powered recreational trails that are open to the public; to promote responsible use, conservation, and youth participation; and to respect the values of our communities and the vision of landowners.
Rankin Trails
In the fall of 2017, we had our first ribbon cutting on about a mile and a half of purpose-built mountain biking single track. Our first two trails, Rank N’ Roll and Rank N’ File, form a fun, challenging, and scenic loop located on Judy and Jerry Rankin’s land. While designed for mountain biking, our trails are open to hiking, walking, running, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. We have long-term goals of coordinating fat biking with other snow sports in the winter. The trailhead is located at 560 Clark Rd. Danville, VT. You will see a level parking area with a chain across the entrance. Simply lower the chain and put it back up when you leave. (The chain is a deterrent for nighttime dumping)

Please note: The trails are open during daytime hours. Dogs should be on a leash and smoking, camping, and campfires are all forbidden. Hunting is by permission of the landowners. Please keep in mind this is a quiet residential area. Please drive slowly, and, despite how pumped you may be for or after your ride, please avoid cranking your radio and hooting and hollering 🙂

At present, we are working to expand trail offerings on Crow Hill and at NVRH. Trail work days are planned for the 3rd Saturday of the month from April-October. Specifics can be found on our Facebook page under events.
