Local Racing Is Strong In Vermont
In Vermont, cycling isn’t just a sport; it’s part of the local community. One of my favorite parts of the cycling community is local weeknight racing: events organized by local chapters that bring riders together to challenge themselves, connect with others, and celebrate the trails we all love!

Why Local Racing Matters:
- Accessible for Everyone: Local races offer a welcoming environment for riders of all skill levels, whether you’re trying racing for the first time or chasing a personal best.
- Strengthening Connections: These events bring together riders, volunteers, and spectators, fostering a sense of community that extends far beyond race day.
- Giving Back to the Trails: Many local races also inspire riders to volunteer, support trail building, and advocate for better access to incredible trails!

Running Mid-Week Racing:
- Fellowship of The Wheel: Tuesday Enduro Series
- Catamount: Wednesday Night XC Bike Races
- Burke Mtn: Friday Night Enduro Series
- Thunder Mtn (Not VT but a VMBA Partner): Friday Lightning Race Series
A Quick Recap from the Fellowship of the Wheel’s Tuesday Night Enduro on August 12th at
Cochran’s
The local Vermont racing scene was alive and well at the final Fellowship Of The Wheel Enduro as riders gathered at Cochran’s in Richmond, VT, part of the beautiful Richmond Mountain Trails network, for another unforgettable Tuesday Night Enduro! The evening kicked off with a steady transfer up Mother’s Day → AC/DC → Climb to Skully’s, setting the tone for the night.
- Stage 1: Skully’s – a fast & flowy crowd favorite
- Stage 2: Ravine Trail – a mix of tech and speed that kept everyone on their toes
- Stage 3 (Bonus Stage): Parking Lot Hangs – because no ride is complete without swapping stories and local beverages

Local racing isn’t just about the race itself; it’s about building lasting connections, growing trail stewardship, and strengthening Vermont’s cycling culture.
