2019 Waterbury Gravel Grinder
May 4, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
This is WATA’s largest and most important annual fundraiser. It’s always a blast and this year is going to be the best ever. All proceeds from the event directly support trail building and maintenance in the Waterbury Area–Perry Hill, Little River State Park, and elsewhere. They also help fund their long-range plans to link WATA trails to other local trail systems. So, come on out for a great day of riding and support the trails while you’re doing it!
Online registration: $60, includes a limited edition 2019 Gravel Grinder t-shirt, food and beverages at the aid stations, and food and two beer tickets after the event. Register by April 26th to get your limited edition T-Shirt.
Note: This year they will have 500 slots available and anticipate this event will sell out! Be sure to buy your tickets early to ensure you don’t miss out!
Ride Start: 9:00AM, Saturday, May 4. Onsite registration and online registration check-in opens at 8 AM.
The Traditional Grinder: This route will be ~25 miles with lots of climbing and lots of dirt winding through the hills of Waterbury – pretty similar to years past, but we’ll switch it up so you don’t get bored.
The Big Grind: NEW this year! You asked for it, so here it is – a ~44-mile route with even more climbing and gravelly goodness. Really want to test your early season legs? Stoked on the Traditional Grinder but want to see if you can push it a little farther? This one’s for you.
Pre-ride breakfast: STAY TUNED
On the ride: They’re still kitting out the mid-ride aid stations, but there’ll for sure be water and Gatorade, plenty of snacks, chocolate-covered bacon as well as other goodies.
Post-ride refuel: After the ride, The Blackback Pub will be serving up a tasty and satisfying meal. They’ve taken great care of us in the past and we’re stoked they’re back this year.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a WATA event without some stellar craft brews. Stay tuned for this year’s local libation providers.
Your registration gets you a delicious meal and 2 beer tickets. If you’re still thirsty, additional beers are 5 bucks a pop.
Weather: We ride rain or shine – it’s a gravel grinder after all!
