With great thanks to the communities of Cavendish, Ludlow, and Mount Holly, we are proud to become a new VMBA Chapter. Ludlow Area Sport Trails (LAST) is looking forward to creating a trail network that will service riders of all ages, skills, and abilities. Though the summer of 2022 will offer limited terrain, we cannot wait to showcase 30 miles of trail for the summer of 2023.
Our network will contain mostly singletrack trails to be used all year round. We are currently in the process of creating some machine-built areas to play as well. Education leaders at Mount Holly Elementary School, Okemo Mountain School, and Expeditionary School at Black River have been working together to mobilize community members and raise funds for building a pump track and skills parks within walking distance of their school buildings. The residents and community members of these towns have had a long passion for mountain biking, and we look forward to our continued growth.
LAST envisions itself being the nexus between life-long learning, healthy lifestyles, and welcoming visitors to this region. Its momentum reflects the very best of what a community can accomplish when it comes together to promote the well-being of individuals and the natural environment. As a Cavendish resident, this is very exciting news. While there are great trails nearby in Ascutney and Woodstock, having these out the backdoor will make getting on the trails a more regular activity. Looking forward to seeing the plans.
