VMBA Receives Black Diamond Award

VMBA was thrilled to learn the organization recently earned a Black Diamond Award from Vermont Sports Magazine, "Best Contributor to Vermont's Outdoor Community." The recognition is the result of 25 chapters statewide supporting each other as the voices of riding across the state. Locals coming together to build trails and host events together is the backbone of mountain biking in Vermont. The association values this commitment among riders a great deal and is eager to continue its work of advocating for expanding legal access, landowner representation and improved access to grants. Fat Biking in the News

It's been a challenging winter for snow based operations in Vermont. As many riders understand, warm temperatures means soft trails that should be avoided regardless of tire width. Soft trails creates puddles, which freeze and hold water. As things warm up later this spring and more riders are eager to get out on their bikes, these areas become maintenance issue for VMBA chapters. Cold temps on the the other hand leads to great winter riding with or without snow. All riders in every season are encouraged to check on trail conditions before riding. VMBA and 1% For the Planet have teamed up to connect the Vermont business community to the trails we all love. Riders gathering to build trail together is the cornerstone of riding in Vermont. VMBA relentlessly endeavors to assist the trail building process in a way that enriches and protects the commitment and involvement of chapters and volunteers. 2015 Annual Meeting Recap

The Annual Meeting Was Awesome! VMBA's annual meeting was a huge success. The Best Western Plus in Waterbury graciously hosted the well attended event. The packed agenda included advocacy highlights from the year, financial report, elections, the first "VMBA Dirt Awards" and a list of ambitious goals for 2016. The room was filled with lively discussion as the 2016 goals were shared and discussed in smaller groups. Each VMBA board member moved from group to group sharing specifics.
