SUMMARY:Bolton Outdoors Film Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of premier documentary filmmaking celebrating the incredible outdoor recreation right in Bolton’s backyard. This event highlights world class rock climbing and mountain biking access projects that have earned national attention. With both of these projects located just a short stroll from the very school where we are gathering\, these powerful stories showcase our local resources as a model for community led conservation and inclusive outdoor recreation. \nAbout the Films: \nHumble Schist: (20 mins) \nWhen access to some of the favorite local climbing spots in Chittenden County was at risk of being lost\, a group of Vermont climbers scrambled to find a solution. They had to balance the fears of a growing scene with the need to forge new partnerships to protect it. The result was the establishment of CRAG-VT\, which has since grown beyond what they ever dreamed. This film highlights the high quality climbing right in Bolton’s backyard and celebrates the vibrant community that has evolved around these cliffs. \nWatch the Trailer \nBest Day Ever: (50 mins) \nBest Day Ever follows adaptive mountain bikers Greg Durso and Allie Bianchi as they tackle the daily challenges of disability — and find joy\, connection\, and belonging in Vermont’s mountain biking community. The film documents the completion of the Driving Range\, now a fully adaptive trail network in Richmond. Set in the Green Mountains\, this is a story of grit\, independence\, and what’s possible when a community comes together. \nWatch the Trailer \nSchedule: \n6:30pm | Doors open\, beverages and raffle tickets available\n7:00pm | Humble Schist & Short Q&A with CRAG-VT\n7:30pm | Best Day Ever & Short Q&A with Richmond Mountain Trails\n8:30pm | End \nAll proceeds will be split between CRAG-VT and RMT to support local outdoor recreation access. \n*CRAG-VT will also be hosting the Summer Kickoff stewardship event earlier in the day. Participants meet at 9:00am at the Bolton Quarry\, spread out to tackle high priority trail projects\, and return for cookout social at 1:00pm. If you would like to pitch in and get your hands dirty\, visit cragvt.org/events for more info.

SUMMARY:BICP Level 1 MTB Certification – Poultney\, VT
DESCRIPTION:BICP MTB LEVEL 1 FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS INSTRUCTOR\nLength: A 3-day course that certifies an individual as a Fundamental Skills Instructor. \nDates: June 26-28\, 2026 (8 am – 6 pm). \nCost: $700 USD + $65 USD BICP Level 1 annual membership. \nA BICP 4-year annual membership plan is required for this certification. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHost Information: \nCourtney Behnken courtney@slatevalleytrails.org \nSlate Valley Trails  Director of Operations   slatevalleytrails.org \nCourse Location: \nTrail House – Poultney\, VT \nWe respectfully acknowledge that this course will take place on the traditional territories of Wabanaki (Dawnland Confederacy)\, N’dakina (Abenaki / Abénaquis)\, and Mohican. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT CLOSES June 1\, 2026 \nA minimum enrollment is required. \nThe online prework must be completed two weeks prior to attending this in-person testing portion of the certification. All participants are required to attend a  Zoom call prior to attending the in-person testing portion of the certification. \n\n\n\n\nThe online prework will take approximately 24 hours to complete\, including a quiz after each chapter. \nThis course teaches stability and biomechanics\, teaching strategy\, site selection\, goal setting\, proper demonstrations\, keywords\, progressions\, and error detection for all the Level 1 Fundamental Skills. \nWe require flat pedals in our mountain bike courses because our BICP-certified instructors have trained their feet to be active and engaged\, knowing that if and when they apply these foot/pedal techniques back to their clips\, they will be better riders. \nPro Tip: Flats vs Clips is not an either/or decision – it’s an “and.” When possible\, learn and practice skills in flat pedals so that riders train their feet to engage the pedals. \nIf riders learn skills in flats and then apply the fundamentals of active and engaged feet to their clips\, they will be better riders. By retraining their feet to be dynamic\, their ankles will become more supple and flexible\, which will help their pedaling power and form.
