SUMMARY:Bikepacking Show & Tell and Campfire Cruise
DESCRIPTION:We’re going to try this and see how it goes…\nOn Saturday\, September 4th bikepackers and the bikepacking curious are invited to gather with their fully loaded bikepacking/touring rigs and/or questions.\nMost of the time will be reserved for connecting with others\, sharing knowledge\, and discovering new adventure partners and ideas.\nAt Noon we’ll try to gather everyone together for a group Q&A where we’ll crowd source the answers. I’m still working on how this will work\, and we’ll probably just wing it \nAt 2pm we’ll wrap things up and we’ll move the party into the woods for a night of primitive camping in Camel’s Hump State Forest. The site is a ~12 mile ride from the Catamount Outdoor Center and has a fire ring and water source\, but no other facilities.\nSunday\, we’ll wake up and return to our homes or our cars.\nWe have permission to park overnight at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center for those that want to participate\, but live a little too far away to conveniently ride to the event.\nIf driving and planning to camp\, you can also park at the Richmond Park & Ride. It’s a short ride to Catamount from there\, and is very near our overnight route.\nYou can view the planned route here: ridewithgps.com/routes/36266169\nThis event is FREE.\nI’m hoping to see a variety of bikepacking and touring setups represented so those new to the sport can see that you don’t need a lot of fancy gear to get out there… but also can see what’s possible with careful selection of equipment and gear.\nQuestions… email gmaino@catamounttrail.org
