SUMMARY:[Cancelled] Uberwintern Fatbike Festival 2020
DESCRIPTION:ÜBERWINTERN CANCELLED 🙁 \nFriends: sadly Mother Nature is not cooperating and Mountain Bike Vermont and STP have been forced to pull the plug on Uberwintern for the first time in its eight-year history. But don’t despair\, they’ve got a backup plan! Firstly\, anyone who pre-booked a ticket will get a refund. Secondly\, if you’re in town and still need entertainment\, they’re going to do a miserable\, no-fun-at-all\, fatbike gravel ride out of Ranch Camp on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. It’s going to be wet\, but at least it’ll be cold. You’ll get just enough exercise and justify the amazing lunch and delicious libations that await you at Ranch Camp upon your return. (food specials abound!) \n\nBut wait\, there’s more! They’ll be reincarnating this hallowed event on Saturday\, February 8th with Uberwintern Lite. They’ll convene at Ranch Camp to ride bikes\, break bread\, warm our hands around the bonfire\, and of course\, warm our insides with tasty beverages. Stay tuned for details. \nFinally\, we know you need your fatbike fix so join them for the first annual Rutland Cold Rolled; Rutland\, VT’s first and finest fatbike festival\, going down on Sunday February 2nd. Tickets at MTBVT.com. Questions? Hit us up! \n\n  \n—————————————————————————- \n  \nThe Stowe Trails Partnership and Mountain Bike Vermont are at it again in 2020\, bringing you Vermont’s best antidote to the winter blues—Uberwintern! What is Uberwintern you ask? It’s a day of fatbike revelry on powder-packed single track for those souls brave enough to keep charging on two wheels through the depths of winter! \nJoin us Saturday\, January 11th\, 2020 for a day of fatbike group rides\, demos\, and hearty brews around warm fires. \nNow in its eighth year\, Uberwintern 2020 will be staged out of Ranch Camp\, situated on the Cady Hill trailhead. A new remote aid station\, a.k.a party central\, will be set up at the fire pit outside of the von Trapp Brewery where attendees can enjoy some light fare and a brew. Registration\, group ride departures\, demos\, and lunch will be all take place at Ranch Camp\, aka Uberwintern HQ. \nYour ticket price includes on-site demos\, group rides\, lunch (with both carnivorous and veggie options)\, as well as A beverage. So air down those tires\, break out the extra layers\, and get ready to party MTBVT style… it’s tradition! \nRENTALS VS. DEMOS \nDEMOS: Each participating shop will have demo bikes available. Demo bikes are allowed out for 45 minutes to one hour depending on each participating shops discretion. Demo bikes are not typically allowed out on the group rides as the group rides leave for more than the allotted hour demo session. \nRENTALS: Rentals are available on a shop by shop basis. You are encouraged to contact shops in advance if you would like to rent a bike for the full day. Prices vary by shop. \nPARTICIPATING SHOPS\nIf you are a shop or vendor and wish to participate please reach out to ryan@mtbvt.com. \nSCHEDULE \n8:00 Vendor Set up \n8:15 Reg opens \n9:00 Expo opens/ Demo bikes available \nRIDE DEPARTURE SCHEDULE (Subject to change) \n9:15 Epic Ride departs \n9:30 Shuttles start running\, first come first serve \n9:20 Advanced Ride departs \n9:30 – 10:00 Intermediate and beginner rides depart \n10:30 Remote Aid Station opens \n12:00 Kegs are tapped \n3:00 Remote Aid Station shuts down… maybe \n12:30-2:30 Lunch is served \n3:30 Party Time \n4:00 Demo area closes \nGROUP RIDES \nIn typical MTBVT fashion we have a few awesome group rides planned. That said\, please be patient with us as we assess where we will be taking you. All rides are weather dependent\, social pace\, and have a few stops to rest and enjoy nature. \nEpic Ride – There will be multiple epic rides departing. Each will run 4 hours in duration over 20ish miles over variable terrain. These rides are for expert riders with expert stamina and a high tolerance. If you are new to fat biking or don’t ride regularly this ride is NOT for you. \nAdvanced Ride – Similar to the epic ride\, this ride’s duration is up to 3ish hours. The pace is for avid riders that enjoy covering ground at a steady pace. You can expect up to 15ish miles of riding over variable terrain. \nIntermediate – These rides are for most folks looking to have a good time\, stop at the fire for a bit\, and be guided around Stowe’s central trails. this ride will be three hours in duration with opportunities to bail out or put in a few extra miles. \nBeginner ride – Beginner rides take folks up the rec path\, along the river and back down to the venue. for those looking for more\, riders will have an opportunity to ride up to the camp fire in on Cady Hill and test their skills on a section of intermediate terrain with a reward at the top.

SUMMARY:HTF Forest Walk with Ethan Tapper
DESCRIPTION:Join the Fellowship of the Wheel and Outdoor Gear Exchange on Saturday\, January 18 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM for a walk of an active timber harvest at the Hinesburg Town Forest (HTF) with Ethan Tapper\, Chittenden County Forester! \nUnder the supervision of Tapper\, forest management at the HTF began in winter 2018-19 and will continue this winter from the Economou Road access to the HTF. The goals for the forest management are to increase diversity of tree species\, sizes\, condition\, and spacing\, improve wildlife habitat\, encourage growth and development of a holistically healthy forest and to improve the resilience of the HTF to climate change and natural disturbances. At the same time\, Tapper hopes to demonstrate modern\, responsible forest management in an open\, transparent and inclusive way\, and to highlight Vermont’s working landscape and the sustainable production of local\, renewable forest products. Over the course of this winter the trees designated for harvest by Tapper will be cut\, shipping the resulting forest products to local markets. Income generated from the harvest will be used to conduct stewardship projects\, including trail maintenance and invasive species control on Hinesburg’s two Town Forests\, the HTF and the 301-acre LaPlatte Headwaters Town Forest. \nThis walk will happen rain or shine. Participants should be ready to spend a couple hours outdoors walking (but also standing and talking) over uneven surfaces in whatever weather we find ourselves in. OGE will be there too with hot cider and snacks for your walk! \n**We will be meeting on Economou Road at the plow turn around at 1:00 PM. If you can\, park at the Hinesburg Town Hall and carpool\, since space is limited.**
