SUMMARY:Stay to Stay Weekend - Bennington
DESCRIPTION:The Shires of Vermont\n2019 STAY TO STAY WEEKENDS\n\n\n\nSeptember 13–16 and October 25–28\, 2019\n\nAlready united by a common sense of place known as The Shires of Vermont\, history\, and culture\, this beautiful region between the Taconic Range and the Green Mountains also possesses abundant recreational resources\, a proud agricultural heritage\, and a robust entrepreneurial spirit. A wide range of culinary\, lodging\, and shopping experiences await curious travelers along our highways\, byways\, and country roads\, and on our mountainsides and busy Main Streets. \nSurrounded by mountains and enriched by the many waterways\, including the Battenkill and Walloomsac\, Bennington and Manchester have preserved what most of America has sacrificed: a thriving community center with a rich history\, stunning architecture\, locally owned shops\, and small-town hospitality. \nDid You Know? \n\nIn the summer of 2017\, Manchester hosted its first annual iTVFest\, a film festival for TV executives\, producers\, and agents. The region also hosted a taping of an episode of “The Bachelor.”\nIn 1856\, Charles F. Orvis opened a store dedicated to fly-fishing and related accessories\, now known as the Orvis company\, which is the oldest operating mail order business in America.\nThe snowboard was invented in 1977 by Jake Burton Carpenter in his Manchester garage.\n\nFor more information on the Stay to Stay Mountain Biking Weekends: \nhttps://www.thinkvermont.com/2019/08/15/announcing-stay-to-stay-mountain-biking-weekends/?fbclid=IwAR08uRMaUkpVpvxJKRPatJDuKEGiGViZBz2Y3zx73yvD1DMtiU7RaDDvMa0

SUMMARY:Stay to Stay Weekend - St. Johnsbury
DESCRIPTION:Greater St. Johnsbury Area\n2019 STAY TO STAY WEEKENDS\n\n\n\nSeptember 13–16 and October 4–7\, 2019\n\nThis vibrant community is the southern gateway to the beautiful region known as Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. St. Johnsbury is a picturesque town characterized by elegant Victorian architecture and richly preserved history. It is also the cultural hub of the Kingdom\, bustling with year-round performances and activities\, culinary gems\, eclectic and practical shopping\, museums\, and easy access to a variety of outdoor recreational activities\, including the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and a short drive to the mountain biking mecca\, Kingdom Trails. From the bustling downtown\, you have at your fingertips the pristine wilderness of the Kingdom\, covered bridges\, mountain vistas\, and more. \nEncompassing nearby towns Lyndonville and Burke\, the region offers a wide array of careers in finance\, healthcare\, education\, manufacturing\, and hospitality\, as well as amenities and resources for those who own or are looking to start their own businesses. The combination of activities and opportunity creates a work/life balance that rivals any in the nation. The educational opportunities are also world-class; local independent secondary schools St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon Institute welcome local students as well as those from around the world\, adding diversity to our community. \nDid you Know? \n\nIn the early 1900’s\, St. Johnsbury became known as the “Maple Center of the World\,” a tradition that lives on with the sweet “World Maple Festival” each April.\nThe phrase “Northeast Kingdom\,” a popular term for Vermont’s three northeastern counties\, was first uttered by then-Governor George Aiken who\, moved by the beautiful\, rugged environment of the region\, coined the term during a political appearance in Lyndonville in 1949.\nThe first platform scale\, originally used to weigh hemp\, was invented by Thaddeus Fairbanks in 1830. The Fairbanks family went on to become major benefactors of St. Johnsbury\, supporting the cultural\, architectural\, and educational gems you can find here today.\nIn 2018\, St. Johnsbury set the Guinness World Record for the largest astronomy lesson ever\, organized by the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium.\n\nFor more information on Stay to Stay Mountain Biking Weekends: \nhttps://www.thinkvermont.com/2019/08/15/announcing-stay-to-stay-mountain-biking-weekends/?fbclid=IwAR08uRMaUkpVpvxJKRPatJDuKEGiGViZBz2Y3zx73yvD1DMtiU7RaDDvMa0

SUMMARY:Stay to Stay Weekend - Woodstock
DESCRIPTION:Woodstock\n2019 STAY TO STAY WEEKENDS\n\n\n\nSeptember 13–16\, 2019\n\nNamed one of the “most beautiful towns in America\,” Woodstock is brimming with New England charm and sprawling bucolic vistas. Stroll through the village for your pick of historic shops – from boutiques and restaurants to art galleries\, a general store\, and movie theatre – nearly all locally owned. Want a taste of the outdoors? Set your sights on the only national park in Vermont\, just steps away from bustling Central Street\, or visit Woodstock’s three historic covered bridges. And with an expansive trail network offering hiking\, mountain biking\, horseback riding\, skiing\, and snowshoeing access\, outdoor recreation is a year-round occupation. \nExperience for yourself the local farm-to-table cuisine\, picturesque beauty\, ski areas\, golf courses\, and thriving arts community that draw visitors from near and far. As part of your Stay to Stay Weekend\, you can take it a step further\, learning why many choose to make Woodstock their home: the welcoming community\, outstanding school system\, proximity to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth College\, and housing prices that are a pleasant surprise to anyone hailing from local metro areas. \nThis weekend is a special Mountain Biking Stay to Stay Weekend. Visitors can participate in multiple rides and tours available for every skill level. See below for details. \nDid you know? \n\nWoodstock is the only town in America with six church bells cast by Paul Revere & Company.\nThere are no stop lights in Woodstock – and thanks to the Rockefeller family\, who helped preserve the town’s historic architecture\, the village’s power lines are buried underground.\nThe town maintains a free community wifi internet service that covers most of the village\, dubbed “Wireless Woodstock.”\n\nFor more information on Stay to Stay Mountain Biking Weekends: \nhttps://www.thinkvermont.com/2019/08/15/announcing-stay-to-stay-mountain-biking-weekends/?fbclid=IwAR08uRMaUkpVpvxJKRPatJDuKEGiGViZBz2Y3zx73yvD1DMtiU7RaDDvMa0

SUMMARY:FOTW Women's Ride Saxon Hill
DESCRIPTION:If you ride a mountain bike and your pronouns are she/her/hers\, you are welcome to join Fellowship of the Wheel for their Women’s Ride at Saxon Hill! These rides are “no-drop”\, meaning they don’t leave anyone behind. There are generally two to three groups at every ride… one that runs at a mellow pace on easier trails\, an intermediate group and another group that is interested in more advanced trails. \nThe goal is for everyone to have a good time and not feel pressured\, so generally\, these rides are social and not “hammerfests”. At a minimum\, all riders should be comfortable with climbing\, descending\, and turning at a mellow pace on forested single track. Meet at 6:00PM and start riding by 6:15PM. Usually\, the rides last 1.5 hours\, so bring snacks\, water\, and anything else you might need out on the trail. This will turn into a night ride\, so please bring bike lights! \nThanks to Halyard Brewing Co. for your support of this ride series!

Short hike-a-bikes necessary! \nEmail dan@vermontbikepackers.org with your letter of intent to register! No registration fee; the ride is fully self-supported. In your letter\, please include your experience with distance riding as well as details of your proposed rig and gear setup. \nIf you can’t make the Sep 27 date\, you can still send in a letter of intent to do an ITT (individual time trial) beginning at a different date this season. You also have the option of starting in Brattleboro or Derby Line\, though it is encouraged that you to make the trek to Montpelier in order to start with the group. \nThe 2019 Super 8 Grand Depart will have live tracking hosted by trackleaders.com. Stay tuned shortly before the event to find the link. Riders are strongly encouraged to register with trackleaders (details are emailed out to intending riders). \nSee ROUTES for an overview of the Super 8 as it is today. \nTrack participants with LIVE tracking here: http://trackleaders.com/vtsuper8-19 \nStoked!
