SUMMARY:BETA Bike Month + Bash
DESCRIPTION:INTRODUCING THE FIRST-EVER BETA ADIRONDACK MOUNTAIN BIKE MONTH\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoes Anyone Ride Everywhere?  In BETA’s first-ever Adirondack Mountain Bike Month\, we DARE you to bust out of your normal stomping grounds and ride as many BETA regions as possible — Elizabethtown\, Keene\, Wilmington\, Lake Placid\, and Saranac Lake.  No bike too rusty\, no wheels too small — everyone can take on the Dare.  Folks who ride BETA trails in at least 4 of our towns will win bragging rights and are entered to win some stellar grand prizes. \nTake on the Dare to explore new trails\, get outside\, and meet new riding buddies! \n\n\nSIGN ME UP \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW DO I PARTICIPATE?\n\n\nSIGN UP.  Put your name down as someone taking on BETA’s Dare.\nRIDE.  Ride BETA trails in at least 4 out of our 5 major towns: Elizabethtown\, Keene\, Wilmington\, Lake Placid\, and Saranac Lake.  Go at whatever pace makes sense to you\, on whatever trails you prefer\, and in whatever order you so desire.  We Dare you to ride all over\, but how you do it is totally up to you.\n\nPROTIP: We always find it more fun to tackle riding projects with a buddy.  Encourage/peer pressure a loved one into joining you on your adventure.  Dare them\, if you will.\nDon’t have a loved one susceptible to peer pressure?  No worries\, BETA is hosting Trailhead Days at major trail systems on selected Saturdays and Wednesdays throughout July.  We’ll be hanging out at a table in the parking lot waiting to say hello.  We’re excited to see you out there and happy to give recommendations on must-try-trails.  Our calendar of Trailhead Days is still getting nailed down — it’ll be shared on social media\, this webpage (below)\, and through our emails.\nAt some Trailhead Days we’re also hosting group rides — WOOOT WOOT!\n\n\nSHARE.  Tuning in to see how everyone is tackling this is one of the best parts of events like BETA Bike Month.  Whenever you visit trails as part of your quest to explore new places and complete the Dare\, share it on social media.  Tag @BETAtrails and include the hashtag #BETABikeMonth\nBASH. Celebrate BETA Bike Month by joining us on Saturday\, 07/27 at the East Branch Community Trails.  We’ll fire up the grill\, put out the lawn games\, and get in a few laps on the new trails.  Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun regardless of their participation in BETA Bike Month.\nBOAST.  Tell us where you rode in order to be entered to win prizes both big and small.\nWIN.  Wait with bated breath to hear if you’ve won a grand prize (we think they’re pretty sweet).  Everyone gets a lil somethin\, but a select few get a big somethin.\nAGAIN.  Get geared up for the next BETA Bike Month in July 2025 😉\n\n\n\nCALENDAR OF BIKE MONTH EVENTS\n\n\nJuly 1st\, Monday: Bike Month kicks off.  Sign up and get riding wherever your heart desires.\nJuly 6th\, Saturday: Hardy Road Trailhead Day from 10am-4pm with no-drop* group rides planned for 11am and 1pm.\nJuly 13th\, Saturday: Blueberry Hill Trailhead Day from 9am-3pm before Craigardan’s annual Summer Firing Celebration.  See us at the trailhead\, join one of the intermediate no-drop group rides at 12pm or 2pm\, and then head over to Craigardan for wood-fired pizza\, drinks\, and lots and lots of festivities.  Pizza + mountain biking sounds like a match made in heaven to us\, but you can judge for yourself.\nJuly 17th\, Wednesday: Fowler’s Crossing Trailhead Day from 4pm-8pm with a no-drop and family-oriented group ride meeting at 5:30pm.  That’s right\, bring the little ones.  We’ll be riding around Fowler’s (about 1 hour of mountain biking) and then cruising down the Rail Trail to Ray Brook for a beverage\, food\, or ice cream cone.  You can choose to skip the food-focused fieldtrip if you’d rather go home after mountain biking.\nJuly 24th\, Wednesday: Craig Wood Trailhead Day from 4pm-8pm with an intermediate group ride meeting at 5:30pm.\nJuly 27th\, Saturday: Bike Month Bash and Trailhead Day at East Branch Community Trails from around 2pm-6pm (but it’s not like we’ll kick you out at 6).  Join us to celebrate Bike Month with grilling\, giveaways\, and glorious flowy laps.  You’re invited regardless of if you took on the Dare\, we just want to celebrate with you!\nJuly 31st\, Wednesday: LAST DAY of Bike Month.  If you haven’t snagged your 4th town\, the 31st is the last day to do it and still consider the Dare done.  Whenever you finish the Dare\, tell us here so we make sure you’re entered to win prizes.\n\n* What does “no-drop” mean?   It means no one gets left behind\, no matter what.  Everyone belongs on the trails and everyone should feel like they belong there\, too.  Being slow\, being new to biking\, or working with wonky gear shouldn’t keep you from joining group rides and leaders of no-drop group rides are conscious of that fact**.  We’ll wait for you at every intersection and pace the ride so no one gets left out.  Nothing scary on the trails we pick for no-drop rides.\n** Wait\, so what about the group rides that aren’t no-drop?  Those rides are geared towards more advanced or speed-seeking riders.  The leaders of those group rides are still awfully friendly and definitely want you to join in on the fun\, but you might not have much fun if you’re struggling to keep up through the whole ride.  You know what suits you better than anyone else — pick whatever kind of ride feels right to you.
