SUMMARY:Fall Fundo - Old Spokes Home
DESCRIPTION:FUNDO SEASON IS UPON US! The Fall Fundo is our annual fundraising ride\, where we ride gravel\, connect with friends\, and raise money for our nonprofit programs. This year will be our sixth annual Fundo and we can’t wait for you to ride with us. Click here to register! \n\nDate: Saturday\, October 1\, 2022 \nTime: Start times will be staggered based on the ride you choose: \n    Hundo (100k) departs at 9 am \n    Fi’ty (50k) departs at 10 am \n    Urbundo (10 miles) departs at 12 pm \nAnd enjoy the afterparty from 1 – 5 pm! \nPlace: Old Spokes Home\, 331 N Winooski Ave\, Burlington\, VT – OR register to ride with us “in spirit” wherever you are! \nParking: Our lot will be sectioned off for the Fundo afterparty. Please try to ride to the shop if ya can! Drivers can find street parking or use Charlebois Rigging & Hardware’s lot on 69 Intervale Rd. \nRegistration: REGISTER HERE! \nThe registration fee for each ride is $50\, which includes: a fully marked route and maps\, aid stations stocked with drinks and snacks\, a bag of goodies\, post-ride party\, and tons of fun. \nBike events are too expensive. If you or your group want to ride\, but can’t cover the registration fee\, Old Spokes is happy to sponsor you this year. Contact Tom (tomb@oldspokeshome.com) about reducing or waiving your fee. \nFundraising: You can’t spell Fundo without FUN…or FUND! This event is our major annual fundraiser\, so we appreciate any and all fundraising in addition to your registration fee. Registrations fees alone will only get us about 1/3rd of the way towards our overall fundraising goal of $35\,000. You are welcome to raise funds online or collect cash or checks made out to Old Spokes Home. Our hope is that all riders will match their registration fee by raising at least an additional $50 from others to support Old Spokes Homes’ programs. Individuals and teams can set their goal higher on their fundraising page if they please. Whether or not you fundraise\, we’re stoked to have you riding with us! \nFAQ\nDo I need to finish the ride by a certain time? \nThe Fundo is a ride\, not a race\, so we absolutely encourage riders to go their own pace. That being said\, we’ll be closing up the last aid station and our afterparty around 5\, and don’t want anyone to be stranded without support! Riders in the 50k should be able to confidently ride 30+ miles\, and 100k riders should feel comfortable with 40+ miles. We’ll have mechanics at major aid stations and provide our contact information prior to the ride in case you need to reach out. We plan to sweep the 100k and 50k routes this time around. \nDo I need a gravel bike? \nOur philosophy here at Old Spokes is that ANY bike can be a gravel bike\, with the right attitude. Your bike should be able to handle some unpaved stuff and be in safe riding condition – while we can make some quick adjustments for you the day of\, we are unable to do any major repairs\, so if your bike needs service we recommend booking with us ASAP! \nHow early should I get there? \nWe recommend arriving at the shop 30 mins before your ride departs to get situated\, grab a pastry\, and say hi! There is no formal check-in this year. Riders are welcome to pick up their swag bag before or after riding. \nWill there be pie? \nIt wouldn’t be the Fundo without pie at each aid station! We’re even doing a pie contest this year\, so be ready to taste-test and pick your favorite. \n

SUMMARY:6th Annual Braintree 357 - CIRCUS RIDE - ROC
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 6th annual Braintree 357 – CIRCUS RIDE!  \nAs the days cool off and fall approaches\, it’s almost time for the Circus Ride. We host this event for the soul purpose of celebrating the love of riding bikes and being together. It is intimate\, grassroots & highlights our local community’s passion for cycling. \nIf you have attended in the past you know what we mean! Set atop pictuersque Braintree hill at the mid-1800’s Braintree Meeting House\, this event embodies all of what makes Vermont so special. The people\, the place\, the history\, the vibe & the amazing backroads. We have no podiums\, no pomp-and-circumstance\, no timing…but we guarantee you will leave with a meaningful cycling experience that will stay with you for a lifetime! That my friends\, is priceless! \nWhat is the Circus Ride? The Circus Ride was named after the old circus that traveled from Randolph to Rochester up and over Randolph Gap and back again in the early 1900’s. It was noted that the elephants pulled the wagons up to the ridge and then they switched them to behind the wagons to ease them down the steep mountain roads. Local MTB guru Paul Rea put this loop together back in the mid-90’s when he hosted the New England Mountain Bike Festival in Randolph. The famed route was once highlighted in Mountain Bike Magazine as one of North America’s top 10 hardest mountain bike rides…..WOW\, how the times have changed but so much has stayed the same. \nA little about the route; It’s an adventure ride!  Between the smooth gravel sections\, lay some rowdy woods road segments. The woods roads will require solid bike handling skills\, focus\, and strong legs. They are rocky\, and muddy with multiple lines to choose from. A minimum tire size of 40mm or bigger is STRONGLY suggested\, or a xc mtb would be well suited for this route. We will have one food/aid station mid-way through with tasty snacks and cold drinks. There will be a moto sweep to make sure everyone gets back safe and sound for the afterparty! \n* 18.4 miles of rowdy woods roads (class 4) \n* 16.4 miles of smooth as butter gravel roads \n* 3.2 miles of easy peasy pavement \n38 miles/6000′ vert \nHere is an AMAZING VIDEO from last year from our friends- the Green Mountain Gravel guys \n>>RIDE LEAVES AT 10AM\, GATES/REG OPEN AT 8AM<< \nHere is the Circus Ride Route & Cue sheet; \nhttps://ridewithgps.com/routes/37717641 \nAFTERPARTY; We are excited to hangout with you all again! The historic Braintree Meeting House is a warm and welcoming venue that has hosted many great parties over the years. Our friends at Bent Hill Brewery will be there with their tasty beers\, and we’ll be slinging some great local food. Starting at around 2:30 our friends Soulstice will lay down their rootsy groove as we rest our weary legs. All are welcome to come hangout\, so invite your friends! PLEASE NO DOGS! \nWhat do you get with your entrance fee?  You will get one free beer and plate full of tasty food to fill your bellies. You will also get a classic B357 event shirt from our friends at Factotum Designs in Waterbury….AND memories that last a lifetime! \nMeet our host & sponsors-  \nHost- \nApex Trailworks LLC \nSponors- \nWilson Dentistry  \nRural VT Real Estate  \nThe Gear House  \nVermont Glove \nRidgeline Outdoor Collective  \nFactotum Designs  \n  \nSo sign up today\, field is capped at 150 to keep it low impact on our community. \nRegistration \nSee you Oct 8th! \n-The B357 crew
