DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THE SLATE VALLEY EPIC \nJoin Slate Valley Trails (SVT) on July 15th & 16th\, 2023 for our third annual Slate Valley Epic mountain bike race on  Saturday and our Sunday Group Ride along with a Bike Vendor Expo! Riders can expect some of the best singletrack riding with plenty of climbing and extraordinary views of southwestern Vermont and the Slate Valley. Join us for our events that will surely challenge you\, and be a memorable weekend in the Vermont woods! \nThe event’s trailhead and expo is open to the public so come watch\, cheer\, eat\, demo bikes and celebrate with SVT and the racers Saturday and Sunday.  Primitive camping available at the trailhead (fees apply). \nOverview \nSaturday’s Slate Valley Epic Race:  Registration opens 3/1 (and typically sells out in 2-3 weeks) \nThe Slate Valley Epic is a 40ish mile\, 5\,000+ vertical mountain bike race on Vermont’s newest and best single & double-track trails in the Slate Valley of southwestern Vermont in Poultney\, VT. \nThe Saturday race starts at 7:30 AM and we expect all racers to be complete by around 4 PM.  Last year we had the front runners coming across after 11:30AM!!  Awards at 2:00 PM (as long as all podium racers have cross for all categories) \nAll racers will receive an event tee shirt and a great meal after the race (The Rolling Rooster)!!!! \n \nSunday’s Slate Valley Group Ride: \nOn Sunday we will have a family friendly group rides at 9 AM and the Bike Expo continues!!! \nGeneral Event Information \nA racer’s handbook will be distributed to all racers in advance of the race and relay with a weekend schedule\, specific information\, rules\, etc. Below is enough information to know how the event will be structured. \nThe Epic Race will start and finish at the Slate Valley Trails’ Fairgrounds trailhead located at 131 Town Farm Rd\, Poultney\, VT. \nAll riders in the Race a free raffle for cool stuff donated by our sponsors and supporters at 4 PM (winners must be present).  Special Raffle Items (purchased) will be raffled Sunday 2 PM and winners do not need to be present but are responsible for picking up the winning merchandise. \nThese are cupless races! Racers are encouraged to bring a water bottle to refill at the cupless aid stations set up along the Race course and at the start/finish area for the Relay. Small snacks will be available\, but racers are encouraged to bring enough calories to sustain the duration of the race. \nAll our trails are on private land so littering and trail cutting will not be tolerated meaning racer will be disqualified!!! \nIn the event of a big storm where Saturday’s riders could ruin the trails the rain date will be July 16th. \nRefunds for the Epic Race will be 50% ONLY IF the spot can be filled from the waitlist prior to 11:59 PM on July 9. After July 9\, there are no refunds. \nSVT is a 501c and VMBA chapter.  All proceeds go to the club for trail maintenance and support. In the meantime please check in with your local chapter and businesses to see if you can help during this time of clean-up.\nJoin us for our second stop of our VMBA Day Series at Sugarbush Resort on Sunday\, July 16th! VMBA Ambassadors and our Chapter\, the Mad River Riders\, will lead two group rides throughout the day. Presented by Zero Gravity Brewing – the third season of our VMBA Days should be our best yet! \nOur Vendor Village will be set up at the base\, where you’ll find our VMBA Tent\, Community Builders\, and Partners. Find the VMBA Tent to purchase VMBA Day Raffle tickets for some incredible prizes we have to give away. Each Group Ride will depart from the VMBA Tent; please arrive 5-10 minutes before the ride starts. Each Group Ride is limited to 15 riders\, we encourage you to save your spot through Eventbrite.  \n10:30am – 2pm: Join us for an epic ride! We’ll take the lifts to the top of Sugarbush Resort and ride all the way down into the valley – the longest ride of the VMBA Day Series! SUMMARY:Grateful Gravel 2023
DESCRIPTION:Grateful Gravel provides a challenging cycling event featuring some of Vermont’s most picturesque landscapes and gravel roads that segue into an epic after-party at Mt Ellen. Zach Nugent\, one of the best to cover the Grateful Dead\, will play one of the most well-known Grateful Dead shows\, Cornell\, 5/8/77\, in its ENTIRETY! \nAll riders can refuel after the ride with a small meal provided by Sugarbush and a beer compliments of Lawson’s Finest Liquids. Additional food and beverage from Sugarbush and Lawsons will be available for purchase. \nFriends and family are welcome! Children under 12 are free. General admission for those 12 and over is $20. Concert admission is included with rider registration. DESCRIPTION:Calling all BIPOC interested in an afternoon of outdoor activities and community building! OGE and Craftsbury Outdoor Center are excited to announce the 2nd annual BIPOC Outdoor Festival!\n\nThis will be a setting for BIPOC to try new activities or enjoy old ones in a supportive environment. The purpose of this event is to create a space for BIPOC to feel welcome to learn and build a sense of community at the same time.\n\nA variety of group activities will be offered\, with equipment and instruction provided. Many of these activities will be led by BIPOC instructors as well as white instructors who share a sense of making space for BIPOC.\n\nVendors will have food and beverages available for purchase. If the sessions aren’t your thing\, feel free to come by and hang out with your friends and have a great time; Making the CutX will be there selling BBQ.
