SUMMARY:Women's Beginner/Intermediate MTB Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Come join Catamount Outdoor Family Center for a half-day women’s beginner/intermediate MTB clinic to bring your bike skills to the next level! \nIn this clinic\, you will build upon beginner skills in a safe and supportive environment. You will explore beginner and intermediate trails and terrain\, including roots\, rocks\, dirt\, and wood features. You will also play some bike games while practicing drills and skills. You will continue to practice braking\, body positioning on the bike\, and skill blending (breaking\, riding\, shifting\, and pedaling). Fun challenges await in this clinic\, from climbing and descending single-track trails to rock walls to Gullywumper!! \nPrerequisites include completion of a beginner skills clinic at Catamount in the past 3 years OR all of the following skills: \nEyes forward and scanning ahead while riding\nCovering breaks with one finger while riding\nUse of both brakes to slow down and stop\n“Neutral” and “Ready” riding positions\nPedaling on flat and varied terrain\nStandup riding on flat and varied terrain with even pedals\nTurning in both directions \nIf you have any questions about your skill level for this clinic\, please contact email thehub@catamountoutdoor.org \nPlease bring your bike\, helmet\, water\, snack\, and any other gear you need to feel comfortable.\nIf you need a bike\, Catamount offers bike rentals. SUMMARY:Level 1 MTB Skills Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Join Outdoor Gear Exchange for a 1.5-2 session learning the foundations of mountain bike handling. From optimal body position to proper braking\, to lifting your front wheel\, you’ll learn how to gain control in any situation to build confidence\, safety\, and fun on your bike. To participate in the class you will need:\n\n1) A mountain bike in full working order. If you have concerns\, bring your bike to the OGE service department and they’ll inspect it for free. They also have mountain bikes available for rent.\n2) A helmet\n3) Flat pedals\n4) Close-toed shoes\n5) Water/snacks\nTuition is only $50.00 with a portion of the fees going back to the trails! The class will consist of about 45 minutes of field instruction and then a 45-minute ride to put your new skills to use.\nThey have room for eight students so\, please RSVP to reserve your spot!
