Camel's Hump Challenge

WELCOME TO THE 2017 CAMEL'S HUMP CHALLENGE

Are you ready to ski 'round the Hump?

Registration is open for the 30th Annual Camel's Hump Challenge! The Camel’s Hump Challenge offers a rigorous wilderness ski touring experience where spirited backcountry Nordic skiers traverse around the perimeter of Camels Hump - the third highest peak (4083’) in Vermont’s Green Mountains - to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Originally founded by the late Dr. Warren Beeken, the Camels Hump Challenge operates as a fundraiser to support the educational programs and services offered by the Alzheimer's Association, Vermont Chapter.

If you'd like to be a part of this amazing event but can't ski, check out volunteer opportunities!

How it works: 80 participants max. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to reserve your space. A minimum of $150 in pledges and/or donations is required to participate in the Camels Hump Challenge. Skiers may register as individuals or as teams. Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers. Donations fund the education and outreach services of the Alzheimer’s Association, Vermont Chapter. More details

How you ski: Participation demands a high degree of physical conditioning and competence in backcountry skiing. The approximately 13 mile loop takes 5-7 hours depending on the conditions and the ability of the skier. Check-in opens at 7:30 A.M. and the rolling start begins at 8:00 A.M. To ensure safety for all participants, skiers must reach the mid-station by no later than 1:00 P.M. Those who do not will be escorted down the mountain via the Monroe Trail. Rides back to the start of the CHC will be provided.
